From “Good Enough” to “Completely Us” – A Weybridge Family Home
I used to live in Weybridge, Surrey myself so I know the pull of this town. It has a heart and soul and a great highstreet, so when my clients bought their house here, I can see why location, location, location was important to them.
However, 2 years in and the house doesn’t feel like the home they want or need for their young family.
You know those homes that are perfectly fine, perfectly liveable… but don’t quite sing? That’s where this story begins.
This perfectly formed, Victorian cottage certainly has it’s quirks. A staircase that runs through the middle of the ground floor, for a start! But it has character and charm and therefore the potential to be a home that welcomes you in.
They are both are balancing full-on careers as a CTO in Tech and a GP, little ones with endless energy, and a home that has been a trusty “good for now” backdrop to life. But that feeling has grown tired and they have asked us to step in and make this house feel amazing. They are craving that feeling!
Before reaching out to me, there were big conversations about whether to move or stay. Should they sell up and find something that already had “the vibe,” or invest in making this house truly theirs? In the end, they made a brilliant choice to stay in the area they love, close to schools, the town centre, and all the essentials, and instead pour that energy into transforming the space they already call home.
The Design Plan
My Complete Design Service is a little bit like being a home makeover fairy godmother (minus the sparkly wand… though I am tempted). It’s all about giving clients the transformation they dream of without the overwhelm of managing it themselves.
For this family, the kitchen is getting a thoughtful refresh rather than a full rip-out because it doesn’t need it. It is only about 10 year old and in good condition. But it is dated and time for a re-style. We’re keeping the bones of it but giving it a whole new lease of life with fresh doors, a sleek new worktop, and rustic tiles full of character. Smart, sustainable upgrades that make a big impact without unnecessary waste.
We’ve also been rethinking the ground floor layout, taking a step back to really explore how the family lives day to day. The key themes that came up are connections, conversations, and those lovely everyday moments together. The new design makes space for all of that because a home should work with you, not against you.
And let’s talk about the sofa. Grey is not fine, and I’m a firm believer that bold sofas make you smile every time you walk into the room. We’re going colourful and full of personality. Add in some thoughtful touches that nod to the Victorian charm of the cottage, and suddenly this house is shifting from “good enough” to “completely us.”
Stress-Free for Busy Lives
Behind the scenes, I’m managing it all from coordinating trades and scheduling deliveries to making sure everyone shows up when they should (miracles do happen). My clients, don’t need or want to be juggling contractors or worrying about every decision. They can just hand it all over, knowing I’ll weave calm, colour, and comfort into their home.
What’s Next
I can’t wait to share more as this project unfolds. Expect cosiness, character, and just the right amount of pattern—because I believe pattern is the secret ingredient to a brilliant design.
I’m documenting the whole journey, so if you’d like to see the transformation as it happens, pop over to Instagram and follow along. This one’s going to be special.
