From Overwhelm to Clarity: A Fresh Pair of Eyes Case Study in Surrey

A couple of weeks ago, an old colleague from my corporate days got in touch.

Kath now has a successful career in the pharmaceutical world — confident, decisive, leading teams.

And yet when it came to her home, she felt stuck.

This is something I see often in homes across Surrey (Weybridge, Cobham and Virginia Water).

Capable women, used to making big decisions… suddenly second-guessing themselves at home.

The Challenge

Kath wanted her kitchen, hallway and snug to feel:

  • calm

  • cosy

  • cohesive

But she was torn between soft, earthy tones and brighter, more feminine colours.

The result?

Lots of ideas… but no clear direction.

What We Did

During her Fresh Pair of Eyes session, we stepped back and started with how she wanted the space to feel — not just how it should look.

We focused on:

  • simplifying the hallway by painting walls, doors and woodwork in one tone

  • introducing a soft green to connect with her existing lounge

  • layering in muted pinks and warm terracotta tones to add depth and warmth

Instead of choosing colours in isolation, we created a palette that flowed naturally through her home.

The Clarity

At the start, Kath felt overwhelmed and unsure.

By the end, she had:

  • a clear colour palette

  • a cohesive plan

  • the confidence to move forward

She described the session as “extremely helpful and invaluable.”

Why This Works

Most people think they’re stuck because of colour.

But usually, they’re stuck because they don’t have clarity.

That’s exactly what I help my clients find across Chertsey, Esher and Guildford.
