Great Bookham Bathroom Project – Update
I’m currently at my clients’ home in Great Bookham as we approach the end of week five on their bathroom renovation.
This spacious four-bedroom house has two bathrooms, both untouched since the 1990s — which, when you stop to think about it, is c.30 years ago!
The first bathroom is the couple’s ensuite, where the goal is to create a calm and sophisticated sanctuary. We’ve chosen a beautiful mix of soft pink tones for the shower area, complemented by gentle blues throughout the rest of the space. The result is a serene, luxurious atmosphere that perfectly suits their style.
The second bathroom is designed for their two young sons. We wanted to make it a space that’s both practical and inviting, encouraging the boys to enjoy using it. To add a playful touch, we’ve included a canopy-style wallpaper featuring monkeys swinging from the trees — a fun detail that’s sure to make toothbrushing a little more exciting! The vanity unit is painted a soft yellow, adding warmth without overwhelming the room. The remainder of the bathroom is contemporary and grown-up, so when the boys outgrow the fun elements, these can be easily updated without compromising the overall design.
Both bathrooms have been fully stripped back to the essentials. We’ve upgraded the water system, including installing a new water cylinder to manage the increased pressure from modern fixtures and replacing the mains water pipe with a slightly larger one to improve flow — important details that ensure the bathrooms function as beautifully as they look.
One of the key benefits for my clients is that they’re using my Complete Design service, which means they haven’t had to manage any of the project themselves. For busy, full-time professionals with two small children, this is a huge advantage. They can trust that every detail is being handled, without the stress of coordinating contractors or making countless decisions, allowing them to focus on their family and work while the transformation happens seamlessly.
Tiling work is now underway, marking the start of the finishing phase, and it’s wonderful to see the design vision coming to life.
I’m documenting the process with photos and videos, so feel free to follow along on Instagram for the latest updates. We’re aiming to complete the project within the next three weeks.
